The village gets its name from two Nepali words: Tamba, meaning copper, and Koshi, meaning river. 

5. Risheehut

This town is located in the Darjeeling district, which has a tea garden. This is located on a beautiful tea plantation in North Bengal. Also, it lets tourists experience native life in the lush greenery and rolling hills. The town is also called Rishihat. This is the right place to visit to experience the local way of life

6. Pabong

Located just an hour from Darjeeling, Rangaroon features scenic views of Mount Kanchenjunga, sprawling tea fields, and the hills of South Sikkim. This is an excellent location to get away from the masses

10. Chilapata

Located in the Dooars region of the Himalayan foothills, it is a medium-sized park with grasslands and forests. This national park in Jalpaiguri has vast numbers of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses. People can do elephant tours and bird watching from viewing towers.

Where to Stay

Places with homestays abound, and visitors get a natural feel for the area. Some places have also provided rest stops with accommodation and eco-lodge facilities. It is best to book ahead of time, especially during busy times.


The best times to go are

October to May is the most excellent and clearest weather in North Bengal. The rainy season—June to September—has a charm; this time, you will find most of the grass and misty views.
